Clinical Research Center
The Clinical Research Center (CRC) provides support services and staff that improve the quality and efficiency of conducting clinical research. It does this by standardizing operational procedures and educational requirements and by centrally scheduling research staff independent of clinic site location.
The CRC is committed to helping expand education, training, and mentoring to enhance knowledge and skills, promote career development, and serve as a "laboratory" to train the next generation of clinical and translational scientists. The CRC also strives to ensure access, resource availability, service integration, and enhance the quality and quantity of interdisciplinary clinical and translational research.
Clinical research activities at UTHSC and partner institutions and organizations are significant and have increased in scope and number over the last decade. These research activities encompass a strong group of funded clinical investigators with extensive infrastructure support.
The Mid South area has a wide variety of healthcare issues. Prevalent conditions in the Mid-South include: hypertensive disorders, diabetes, chronic kidney disease, obesity, heart disease, cancer, stroke, COPD, asthma, sickle cell disease, and AIDS.
The Clinical Research Center is used by investigators from St. Jude Children's Research Hospital, the VA Medical Center, Regional One Health, and the Le Bonheur Children's Hospital. Investigators from the Southern School of Optometry, The University of Memphis, and the Medical Education Research Institute have used its resources in the past.
Clinical and translational researchers in the fields of Neurology, Endocrinology, Internal Medicine, Oncology, Medicine, Surgery, Pharmacy, Orthopedics, Nursing, Ophthalmology, Dentistry, Family Medicine, Physiology, Infectious Diseases, Genomics and Bioinformatics are all striving to find better treatments for a variety of healthcare problems.
Headed by Dr. Samuel Dagogo-Jack, the CRC is located just east of downtown Memphis
in the Methodist University Hospital at 1265 Union Avenue, 8th floor East Wing and is open Monday through Friday 7:00 am to 4:00 pm.
Free Parking is available at the Visitor Parking Garage on Eastmoreland Avenue.
From the visitor parking garage, walk across Eastmoreland avenue into the hospital. Follow the hallway to the information booth. Turn left and follow the hallway to the elevators (East Wing of the Hospital). Take the elevators up to the 8th floor.
