UTHSC Nursing: A Legacy of Leadership. A Career for Life.

With an outstanding national reputation earned over more than a century,  the College of Nursing traces its history to 1898 and was the first College of Nursing in Tennessee. Housed in the resource-rich environment of an urban medical campus, the College of Nursing offers a highly-educated, research-oriented faculty with a focus on developing nursing leaders.  The College offers a 12-month, second-degree accelerated BSN program, a traditional, four-semester BSN  program, and a Doctor of Nursing Practice (DNP) program with nine concentrations. Our PhD in nursing is offered through the College of Graduate Health Sciences.

We are the only College of Nursing in Tennessee that offers a  Registered Nurse First Assistant (RNFA) program approved by the National Association of Assistants at Surgery. UT Health Science Center also offers a one-year Advanced Practice Forensic Nursing certificate.
