Institutional Compliance Office
The mission of the Institutional Compliance Office is to take a proactive approach in promoting compliance with applicable laws and regulations as well as UT System policies and University of Tennessee Health Science Center procedures.

- Coordinate with UTHSC Institutional Compliance Committee to conduct periodic risk
assessments to evaluate high-risk areas for exposure and non-compliance.
- Monitor high-risk areas identified in the UTHSC risk assessment and coordinate the
resolution of identified issues.
- Manage oversight of Medical Billing Compliance through auditing and monitoring functions.
- Work to ensure that UTHSC complies with the federal HIPAA Privacy Rule through campus
wide training and implementation of campus procedures.
- Conduct HIPAA Privacy investigations into alleged wrongful use or disclosure of protected health information (PHI).
