Coronavirus Update for Travel from China
January 31, 2020
Yesterday, January 30, the World Health Organization announced that the outbreak of the coronavirus has caused a Public Health Emergency of International Concern. The Centers for Disease Control and Prevention have been closely monitoring the situation in China, and more cases are being reported in the United States.
In an effort to minimize the risk of spreading this dangerous virus, any UTHSC students, faculty, and staff who have traveled to China since January 1, 2020 will not be allowed to come to campus for a 14-day period.
For those who have traveled to China this past month, please promptly report this via email to your supervisor, as well as to Dr. Zshvetta Jones, medical director of University Health Services. Impacted employees will be afforded administrative leave during this period, and students will be excused from exams that cannot be taken online. Make-up exams will be arranged as necessary. Subsequent to the 14 days, please contact Dr. Jones for approval to return to the UTHSC campus. Please note that any future travel to China must be authorized.
