About University Health Services

The mission of University Health Services is to provide the best possible care to every patient, every day.

University Health Services (UHS) offers professional and confidential services to the UTHSC students, faculty, staff, and their immediate family members (over 18 years old.) Our goal is to create and sustain a healthy campus community supporting the importance of a healthy social and learning environment. Patient Rights and Responsibilities

UHS is staffed with licensed, qualified healthcare providers and certified professionals who collaborate to provide comprehensive healthcare.

In accord with its mission, UHS:

  • Provides patient-centered primary care to UTHSC students, UTHSC employees, and their immediate family members (over 18 years old.)
  • Provides occupational health and surveillance for UTHSC employees
  • Believes in relationship-centered care as a type of care that recognizes patients within families, communities, health organizations, and all relevant relationships that influence health and healing.
  • Offers access via e-mail, same day appointments, after hours, and web site to meet client needs.
  • Promotes wellness, health education and a full range of preventive services.
  • Affiliates with all university units and other neighboring health organizations.

Clinic Hours

Monday- Friday: 8:00 am – 5:00 pm
Closed 1:00 – 2:00 pm daily for lunch break

Confidentiality

  • University Health Services health records are kept strictly confidential according to HIPAA guidelines. They are never part of the student’s academic record or the employee’s personnel file. All information about our patients, even acknowledgment of their visits, is confidential and cannot be released to any other office, individual, or parent without the patient’s written consent.
  • Behavioral health providers have a professional obligation to protect the patient from himself and others if he/she is perceived to be in imminent danger of hurting himself or others. A behavioral health provider is also required by law to report child or elder abuse.
