Division of Developmental Pediatrics

The Division of Developmental Pediatrics includes clinical faculty trained in a variety of fields, including

  • Neurodevelopmental Disabilities
  • Developmental-Behavioral Pediatrics

Our faculty collectively serve in all of the UTHSC mission areas to transform lives through collaborative and inclusive education, clinical care, research/scholarship, and service. New and continuing external funding from multiple local, state, and national sources supports many of these missions.

Education

We host month-long required rotations for all UTHSC pediatric and medicine-pediatric resident physicians as well as 2- to 4-week clinical electives for medical students. The division's roles in education extend beyond the College of Medicine with training programs designed to interdisciplinary, interprofessional educational experiences to students in related health and education professions. Continuing education activities for health care and early childhood professionals serve local to international audiences.

Clinical Care

In addition to Le Bonheur outpatient clinics that address developmental and behavioral concerns (eg, developmental delay, autism, attention and learning, disruptive behaviors, and others), specialty clinics include

  • Infant-Toddler
  • Feeding and Swallowing Evaluation
  • Spina Bifida
  • Tuberous Sclerosis Complex Associated Neuropsychiatric Disorders
  • Psychology Assessment

Several of our clinics are designed to be multidisciplinary in collaboration with other departments or divisions.
