Department of Audiology and Speech Pathology

The Master of Science (MS) education program in speech-language pathology (residential) and the Doctor of Audiology (AuD) education program in Audiology (residential) at the University of Tennessee Health Science Center are accredited by the Council on Academic Accreditation (CAA) in Audiology and Speech-Language Pathology of the American Speech-Language-Hearing Association. Our program has a CAA follow-up visit scheduled for Friday, November 15, 2024, with a public meeting set for 12:00 – 12:30 pm EST that day.  If you would like to attend this in-person meeting, please refer to the Upcoming Events page for more information.

The Department of Audiology and Speech Pathology offers undergraduate, graduate, and doctoral education in audiology and speech-language pathology. The mission of the Department is consistent with the missions of UTHSC and the College of Health Professions. As such, the Department serves a major public service role by:

  • providing access to high quality education in audiology, speech-language pathology, and speech and hearing sciences.
  • operating clinical programs that offer excellence in care for individuals with communication disabilities.
  • generating new knowledge in the discipline of communication sciences and disorders through active research.
  • promoting life-long learning for alumni and other professionals across the state of Tennessee.
