Conferences
Daily conferences promote self-motivated learning. Fellows (with a faculty mentor) are responsible for presenting all but the core curriculum conferences.
- Monday: Conference on graphics (e.g., ECG-related echocardiography, hemodynamics)
- Tuesday: Core curriculum of fundamental topics
- Tuesday evening: Cardiology grand rounds
- Wednesday: Medical grand rounds
- Thursday: Review of ongoing research or a morbidity and mortality
- Friday: Joint conference with members of the Interventional fellowship
- a journal club
- pro-and-con debate
In preparing for these conferences, fellows learn to: pose a question relevant to one of their patients; research the relevant scientific literature; address the problem selected; field questions from their peers; and to reach a conclusion. These sessions are also intended to provide trainees with an appreciation of self-motivated learning and promote personal enrichment through a lifetime of learning.
