Office of Research
The Office of Research provides oversight of all activities that pertain to the inclusion of humans as research participants. Its mission is to create an environment that fosters the ethical conduct of human subjects research through quality assurance and education. It fosters and safeguards the institution’s culture of compliance. The office offers the following:
- Consultation during protocol preparation
- Review of protocols, consent forms, and other compliance-related documents before study approval is requested from compliance entities (to identify needed modifications)
- Post-approval monitoring to ensure that approved procedures are being used and research participants are protected
- Education and training related to research compliance
- Development of institutional policies to protect human research participants
