Didactic Education
Board-relevant and robust didactic experiences are a top priority of our program. Given the wide breadth of our clinical exposure in hospital and ambulatory medicine, we utilize multiple modalities to make sure our didactic curriculum complements your clinical experience. A summary of our didactic offerings are:
Intern School - our weekly conference on Thursday afternoons for PGY-1 interns where we cover common hospital medicine topics through a combination of gamification, short clinically focused lectures, and small group learning with case discussions.
Academic Half Day - our weekly conference on Tuesday afternoons for PGY-2 and PGY-3 residents where we cover clinical and board relevant hospital medicine topics using innovative digital med-ed media, case-based discussions, short lectures, and reflection.
Our program prioritizes protected time for these didactics and, with very few exceptions, residents are excused from clinical duties by 1:00 pm on their respective weekly half day based on PGY level. Food is provided for the entire program on both Tuesdays and Thursdays.

Every Monday at noon we have "Business Lunch" from 12:00 - 1:00 pm. All residents are invited to a lecture that is focused on practical information for success in various topics very relevant to residents. The GME office invites a rotating list of speakers who cover various financial and systems based topics during the first and second Mondays of the month. The third Monday of each month is our program's monthly housestaff meeting, and the fourth and occasional fifth Mondays of the month cover important elements of career planning and the business of medicine.
During a resident's ambulatory week they enjoy "ambulatory report" one day during the noon hour, which is a case based discussion of important outpatient topics facilitated by our ambulatory faculty.
