Weekly Nephrology Grand Rounds, which includes kidney biopsy conference
Weekly fellows’ conference with Training Program Director or Division Chief
Weekly Journal Club/Case conference
Additional didactic training: American Society of Nephrology national meeting (second-year fellows),
Annual educational retreat (first-year fellows), peritoneal dialysis conference (first-year fellows) continuous renal replacement therapy conference (second year fellows)
Pathology conference (one week session, full time with renal pathologist)
Up-to-Date electronic text available at all rotations
UT Health Science Center Blackboard: utilized for storing taped lectures, teaching documents, pdfs of key Nephrology related publications
Research Electives (Individualized)
Outpatient dialysis elective: Satellite dialysis Center. Nephrology faculty serves as Medical Directors
Continuity clinic: ½ day per week in out-patient Nephrology clinics at VAMC and/or Regional One Hospital.
Rotations
Nephrology consultations at Methodist University Hospital: General Medical- Surgical hospital, including multiple critical care units. Methodist University Hospital was recently nationally ranked by US News and World Report, and the Nephrology division within the hospital was ranked in the top 50 nationally.
Nephrology consultations at Regional One Health: General Medical- Surgical hospital, level I Trauma Center, and serves as regional Burn Center
Nephrology consultations at VAMC: Includes outpatient Nephrology clinics, a peritoneal dialysis program and an outpatient hemodialysis program
Transplant rotation at Methodist University Transplant Center: MUH transplant Institute performs ~ 100 kidney or kidney/pancreas transplant and >100 liver transplants annually
