Satya Surbhi, PhD

Dr. Surbhi obtained her Bachelor of Pharmacy degree in India, and she completed her Master’s in Pharmacy Administration from St. John’s University, and PhD in Health Outcomes and Policy Research from University of Tennessee Health Science Center.

Her research interests include health services research and pharmacoepidemiology. Her work focuses on medication adherence, social determinants of health, care transitions, and comparative effectiveness of therapies, among patients with multiple chronic conditions. She is the Principal Investigator (PI) on a PhRMA Foundation research starter grant that aims to demonstrate the feasibility of a pilot intervention involving full medication subsidy, bedside, and home delivery of medications to improve medication adherence and quality of life for Medicaid and uninsured patients. In addition, she is the PI on a University-funded Collaborative Research Network (CORNET) award that aims to examine the impact of the COVID-19 pandemic on racial, gender, and socioeconomic disparities in access to care, health outcomes, and mortality using quasi-experimental research designs. Her other research projects focus on, 1) comparative effectiveness of diabetes medication therapies, 2) neighborhood factors affecting healthcare utilization and clinical outcomes, 3) disparities in continuity of care in underserved populations, and 4) opioid medication use among high-need, high-cost patients.
