Pre-Award Unit
The UTHSC Office of Sponsored Programs Pre-Award team facilitates grant submissions
for faculty at UTHSC, including the UTHSC components in Knoxville, Nashville, and
Chattanooga. UTHSC's user-friendly electronic routing system Cayuse SP and 424 can be used to quickly route grant proposals prior to their submission to the sponsor/funding
agency.
The Office of Sponsored Programs' Pre-Award Team works with faculty and administrators to submit high-quality proposals successfully. Staff members are available to provide assistance with the interpretation of proposal solicitations and other information related to obtaining and applying for funding. The Pre-Award Team reviews proposals such as letters of intent, submissions to federal agencies such as NIH, DOD, and NSF, and foundation-type proposals such as American Heart, Cystic Fibrosis, etc., for institutional and sponsor compliance. Ultimately, the Pre-Award team assists applicants with submitting eligible proposals to federal and foundation sponsors on behalf of the University. In some instances, submission by the applicant may be required following written authorization by OSP.
When awards are considered for funding, OSP's Pre-Award team works with faculty and departments to submit post-submission material, Just-In-Time information, and other Pre-Award required information to federal and foundation sponsors. Once a federal award has been established, the Pre-Award team works with the faculty and department on any required progress reporting (RPPRs).
Pre-Award also assists in establishing and verifying items such as eRA Commons accounts, affiliation of eBRAP accounts, and NSF account registrations for eligible UTHSC personnel.
