2024-2025 Interview Season
All interviews will be conducted virtually. Interviews will take place October through mid-January by invitation only.
The Saint Francis residents will host several virtual open house sessions to allow for Q&A.
Applicant Criteria
Applications to the UT Saint Francis Family Medicine Residency Program are accepted through the Electronic Residency Application Service (ERAS).
- No visa sponsorship
- USMLE/COMLEX transcripts
- Medical diploma
- Medical Student Performance Evaluation (MSPE)/Dean’s Letter
- Medical transcripts
- Curriculum vitae
- 3 Letters of recommendation, one from a Family Physician
- Personal statement
- Guidelines for personal statement: Please address the following questions in your personal statement
- What motivated you to choose family medicine as a career and what valuable lesson have you learned through your experiences in family medicine?
- What leadership roles and personal accomplishments have you achieved through the years?
- What are your future career goals?
- ECFMG certification for International Medical graduates (IMGs)
- Documented, minimum of 12 months of hands-on clinical experience for IMGs
- Graduation from medical school within the previous two years and have been involved in clinical care since graduation

ERAS 2025 Residency Application TimelineIMG Requirements
Applicants must be:
- a US citizen or permanent resident of the US with a valid work authorization (we do not accept VISAs)
- able to provide ECFMG certification to begin July 1st
- a graduate of a school listed on the Medical Board of California approved list
- graduation date within two years
Following the TN Medical Board Guidelines, when considering Caribbean medical school applicants for interviews, our program only accepts applicants whose medical schools appear on the Medical Board of California List of Approved Medical Schools. Any Foreign Medical School in the Caribbean that does not appear on California’s Approved List of Medical Schools DOES NOT meet the criteria of the University of Tennessee Health Science Center St. Francis Family Medicine Residency Program and will not be accepted for application.
