Training Future Minority Physicians
Working primarily through local chapters, SNMA is proud to organize and sponsor local pipeline programs that directly serve minority students through mentoring, education, and guidance.

Minority Association of Pre-medical Students (MAPS)
There are currently over 100 MAPS chapters nationwide which comprise about one third of the SNMA members. MAPS chapters are well-integrated into the organizational infrastructure, participating in local, regional, and national events. Nationally recognized as Associate membership, MAPS members are eligible for most all SNMA national and regional benefits. The chapters are self-governing in accordance with SNMA regional and national bylaws. UTHSC’s chapter of SNMA currently works in close partnership with the MAPS chapter at the University of Memphis in order to provide the academic support, service opportunities, and mentorship necessary to prepare the next generation of future minority medical students.
