Who is on the CARE Team?
The CARE Team is made up of a multidisciplinary group of university personnel representing a variety of campus departments. Individuals selected from these areas have experience in law enforcement, threat assessment, medical and mental health evaluation, human resources, university operations, and student affairs. The members selected have regular contact with members of the campus community and hold positions that have multiple daily touch points with the majority of campus departments, which will aid in the assessment of students of concern, and/or provide the authority to receive a CARE Team concern that was shared and take the appropriate action. The team is trained in threat assessment — specifically the NaBITA Threat Assessment Tool. The CARE Team uses a collaborative process to assess threats and concerns. The core group meets every other week to evaluate, assess, and monitor shared concerns. Additional members have been trained to serve as needed and as designees when a member of the core group is absent or unavailable. (derived from JBIT2017 Journal of Campus Behavioral Intervention)
