Community Events
CDD faculty and staff host multiple annual training events annually. These events vary widely in disability-related topic and audience. In recent years we have held community training events such as: Autism Spectrum Disorder Awareness for Shelby County EMS Paramedics, Zika-Focused Interdisciplinary Training for pediatricians from surrounding rural areas, Special Education Rights for family members of children receiving special education, and an annual Metabolic "Zoo Walk" at the Memphis Zoo in support of our patients with inborn errors of metabolism. Additionally, with regard to community training, our LEND program serves as a rotation site for disability-focused interdisciplinary training for over 300 graduate students from surrounding universities each year.
