Clinical Neurophysiology Curriculum
Patient Care & Clinical Procedures
1st month
Observes and assists in treating patients, performing tests and reads recordings.
2nd - 3rd month
Perform electromyography test and read EEGs. Performs sleep studies and interprets findings.
3rd - 5th months
articipates in the neuromuscular, sleep and epilepsy clinics, performs electromyography and evaluates inpatients and telemetry patients.

Follows their own patients in neuromuscular and epilepsy clinics.
They make decisions concerning diagnosis, diagnostic tests and their interpretation under supervision. Interprets sleep recordings and scores multiple sleep latency tests.
Daily Teaching, Rounds, Clinics, Laboratory Tests - The principle objective of this daily activity with the attending is to develop skills in the three core competencies:
- Patient Care - by demonstrating ability to obtain a methodical Neurological history pertaining to Epilepsy, Neuromuscular disorders and sleep disorders, and to perform a structured and accurate Neurological exam and Neurophysiology test performance.
- Medical Knowledge - by demonstrating the ability to use Neuroanatomy and pathophysiology to devise a clinical formulation, differential diagnosis, interpretation of tests, diagnostic and management plan.
- Communicative and Interpersonal Skills - by demonstrating ability to present a case or a test report and analysis in a concise fashion and by role modeling--observing the practice of seasoned bedside manners during the attending interview and examination and during the performance of Electrophysiological tests.
