The UT Health Science Center College of Pharmacy Academic & Ambulatory Care Post-Doctoral Fellowship is a two-year fellowship designed to mentor post-graduate pharmacists for a career in teaching and clinical service in primary care.


Residency Programs

UT Health Science Center College of Pharmacy PGY-1 Community-based Pharmacy Residency Program

UT Health Science Center College of Pharmacy's multi-site community-based pharmacy residency program is administered by the University of Tennessee, and conducted by our affiliated pharmacy practice sites. As a resident, you will spend your year at one of our various pharmacy residency sites across the state of Tennessee. These sites are located in one of the following regions: Memphis, Nashville, and Knoxville.

HCA Healthcare Corporate Pharmacy Services PGY1 and PGY2 Residency Programs

HCA Healthcare is dedicated to raising the bar by empowering our pharmacists with the resources necessary to deliver the best patient care possible, and we are also committed to developing the next generation of pharmacist leaders. Each resident will gain access to mentorship at the corporate office, participate in ground breaking clinical research, and complete rotations at division offices and local hospitals in their specific residency program. HCA Healthcare’s corporate pharmacy residency program features a number of unique focus tracks, each designed to inspire professional growth and foster clinical expertise in every resident.

HealthTrust PGY2 Corporate Pharmacy Leadership Residency Program

The HealthTrust/University of Tennessee College of Pharmacy PGY-2 Corporate Pharmacy Leadership Residency Program is designed to prepare the resident to function in a pharmacy leadership environment within a healthcare organization. The resident will interact with corporate leaders from several health systems and pharmaceutical vendors. Focusing on optimizing patient care, the resident will acquire the leadership skills to strategically set business goals and priorities for executing tasks at the corporate level.

Le Bonheur Children’s Hospital PGY-1 and PGY-2 Pharmacy Residency Programs

Le Bonheur Children’s Hospital and the University of Tennessee offer four PGY1 residency positions and two PGY2 residency positions. The residency experience is tailored to the individual resident based upon their goals, interests and previous experiences. All residents are required to complete rotations in core areas considered to be essential to the pharmacy practitioner within-their assigned residency program. A broad range of elective rotations is available to allow residents flexibility in pursuing individual goals.

Methodist University Hospital PGY-2 Pharmacy Internal Medicine Residency Program

Methodist University Hospital, in conjunction with the University of Tennessee, offers an ASHP-accredited postgraduate year two (PGY-2) residency in Internal Medicine Pharmacy Practice. The purpose of the program is to provide the resident with the knowledge, skills, and attitudes required to achieve excellence as a clinician, educator, and scholar in the area of internal medicine. Residents will have the opportunity to complete rotations with numerous inpatient, academic internal medicine teams, as well as specialized areas of medicine. Residents are expected to perform independently and demonstrate proficiency during all rotation activities.

Regional One Health PGY-2 Critical Care Pharmacy Residency Program

The ASHP Accredited Postgraduate Year Two (PGY2) Pharmacy Residency in Critical Care is a minimum of 2000 hours of training (contact) time over 50 weeks. The program is structured to provide training in a broad spectrum of patient categories with emphasis on the critically and acutely ill hospitalized patient. This well established program with nationally recognized, professional active preceptors marked its 25 anniversary in 2012.

Tennessee Department of Mental Health and Substance Abuse PGY-1 Managed Care Pharmacy Residency Program

The purpose of the University of Tennessee/Tennessee Department of Mental Health and Substance Abuse Services Managed Care Residency is to train the pharmacy resident to become a proficient clinician in a dynamic pharmacy practice including areas of managed care, mental health, addiction and health policy.
