Didactics and Ambulatory Care
Didactics
Education is our top priority at the University of Tennessee. As such, we offer multiple educational experiences, including:
- An 18 month rotating, structured curriculum, covering all of the major topics in Pulmonary Critical Care at Tuesday and Thursday noon conferences.
- A written curriculum for each rotation.
- Exam review course - an annual review of pulmonary critical care in preparation for in-service exams.
- Journal Club- a twice-monthly critical review of recent medical literature given by fellows.
- Fellow School – Basic topics in pulmonary and critical care presented in July and August. Designed to build a base of knowledge to carry fellows forward in the program.
- M&M – meets monthly to discuss in-depth diagnosis and management of fatal pulmonary disorders.
- PFT’s – Pulmonary Function Test case studies monthly review
- Chest Conference – clinical case studies of lung disease is the one of the longest running conferences in the state of Tennessee.
Ambulatory Care
Continuity Clinic Experience
All fellows are assigned to a continuity care clinic at the VA and Regional One Health. Patients are longitudinal, managed care, post-hospital follow-ups, or consultations. Each fellow has a half day clinic at the VA on alternating Wednesdays.
