Health Coaching Certification Program
Prerequisite: You must have completed the MI Certification Program and be certified at level 1 or higher to sign up for this program.
Who: This program is designed primarily for individuals with at least a high-school education who seek to work full- or part-time as a health coach in a clinical or community setting. The program also welcomes lay and professional non-clinical and clinical healthcare workers at all levels, since the training is a valuable tool for learning how to provide more patient-centered care.
What: An interactive, self-paced program that provides an overview of behavior change theory and strategies, best practices of self-management prescribed for the most common chronic conditions, and evidence-based lifestyle management practices, emphasizing behavior change science and strategies for counseling patients and helping them to adopt healthier lifestyles.
When: Available soon.
Where: 100% online; complete at your own pace/convenience.
How: Lecture, practice activities, feedback on assignments, and case study competency assessment.
Requirements for Successfully Completing the Course: Completion of modules, satisfactory completion of assignments, and passing score on competency-based activity.
Certification levels provided: All those completing course requirements will be certified as either a Level 1 (Client-centered), Level 2 (Competent), or Level 3 (Proficient) Health Coach based on their completed MI competency assessment.
Estimated time required: 12 hours
Fee: $495 – Includes online training modules, competency assessment, and standardized patient experience. 50% discount available for Tennessee Population Health Consortium Members and Partner Organizations.
