Residency Programs Accredited by the ACGME

The University of Tennessee Health Science Center College of Medicine-Chattanooga sponsors 10 residency programs as part of the University of Tennessee Statewide Network of Graduate Medical Education. All residency programs are accredited by the Accreditation Council for Graduate Medical Education (ACGME).

Neurology	4 total years	1 year [PGY-1 level] as a Preliminary Medicine Resident at our institution and 3 years [PGY-2, PGY-3, and PGY-4 levels] in our Neurology Residency.
Obstetrics and Gynecology	4 years
Orthopaedic Surgery	5 years
Pediatrics	3 years
Plastic Surgery	3 years	Must have completed at least a 5-year General Surgery Residency prior to entering our Independent Plastic Surgery Program
Surgery	6 years	5 clinical years and 1 research year
Urology	5 years

 

Fellowship Programs Accredited by the ACGME

The University of Tennessee Health Science Center College of Medicine-Chattanooga currently sponsors 8 ACGME-accredited fellowship programs.  All are part of the University of Tennessee Statewide Network of Graduate Medical Education.

Emergency Medical Services	1 year	Sponsored by the Department of Emergency Medicine Must have completed a 3-year Emergency Medicine Residency
Gastroenterology	3 years	Sponsored by the Department of Medicine Must have completed a 3-year Internal Medicine Residency
Primary Care Sports Medicine	1 year	Sponsored by the Departments of Family Medicine and Orthopaedic Surgery Must have completed a 3-year residency in Family Medicine, Internal Medicine, or Pediatrics
Pulmonary and Critical Care Medicine	3 years	Sponsored by the Department of Medicine Must have completed a 3-year Internal Medicine Residency
Surgical Critical Care	1 year	Sponsored by the Department of Surgery Occurs midway in the PGY-4 level of training and concludes midway in the PGY-5 level of training
Vascular Surgery	2 years	Sponsored by the Department of Surgery Must have completed a 5-year Surgery Residency

 

Non-Standard Fellowship Programs

The University of Tennessee Health Science Center College of Medicine-Chattanooga currently sponsors 6 fellowship programs which are considered Non-Standard.  These programs are either accredited by a non-ACGME  entity or are not accredited by any official body.

Neuro-Interventional Surgery	Non-Standard (No accrediting body)	1 year	Sponsored by the Department of Surgery and the Erlanger Department of Radiology Must have completed a 5-year Radiology Residency or 7-year Neurosurgery Residency
Orthopaedic Trauma  Surgery	Orthopaedic Trauma Association	1 year	Sponsored by the Department of Orthopaedic Surgery Must have completed a 5-year Orthopaedic Surgery Residency
