The College of Medicine is home to multiple centers which bring together faculty, from across the College of Medicine, with shared research interests and activities. These centers span the state of Tennessee, the United States, and the globe in efforts to impact health and wellness.

 

Center for Biomedical Informatics (CBMI)

The UTHSC Center for Biomedical Informatics (CBMI) bridges technology, computation, and health research to improve personal and population health in Memphis and Tennessee. Research at CBMI centers around using predictive analytics and semantic web ontologies.

UTHSC Center for Cancer Research

The mission of the University of Tennessee Health Science Center for Cancer Research is to improve the health and well-being of Tennesseans and the global community by fostering integrated, collaborative, and inclusive education, research, scientific discovery, clinical care, and public service around cancer. The Center for Cancer Research is part of the larger UTHSC Cancer Program.


Center for Developmental Disabilities

The Center on Developmental Disabilities (CDD) is an interdisciplinary program that supports children and adults with developmental disabilities and their families through training, service, applied research, information dissemination, planning, and policy development. The CDD is a part of the UTHSC Department of Pediatrics with several locations across campus and clinics within the Methodist Le Bonheur Healthcare system.

The mission of the UTHSC Center for Health System Improvement is to improve health and health care in Tennessee and the Mid-South by supporting interdisciplinary health systems research, evaluating innovative regional health and health care quality improvement efforts, championing patient-centered outcomes research, and promoting sustainable community-driven health system change.

Center for Multicultural and Global Health (CMGH)

Founded in 2021, the UTHSC Center for Multicultural and Global Health (CMGH) evolved from the growing interest and desire of faculty, residents, and students, to participate in service, learning, and research that reaches underserved communities across the world. With the support of Chancellor Schwab, CMGH hopes to leverage institutional relationships to expand student, resident, and faculty access to multicultural health deliver, address global health challenges, and nurture the next generation of global health leaders.

Center for Sickle Cell Disease at UTHSC

The UTHSC Center for Sickle Cell Disease, with its affiliated medical centers at Diggs Kraus Comprehensive Sickle Cell Center and Methodist Comprehensive Sickle Cell Center, is the largest center for the care of adults with SCD in Tennessee. The center’s multidisciplinary team is committed to providing patients across their lifespan with highly personalized care to manage their symptoms associated with the disease so they can live as normal a life as possible.
