Research Institutes Affiliated with the College of Medicine
Research Institutes are comprised of faculty from multiple Colleges, and often multiple campuses within UTHSC, and may include other institutions and industry partners. These institutes are housed in UTHSC's Office of Research.
Children's Foundation Research Institute at Le Bonheur Children's Hospital (CFRI)
The Children’s Foundation Research Institute is a partnership of the University of Tennessee Health Science Center, Le Bonheur Children’s Hospital, and the Children’s Foundation of Memphis. The CFRI is based in a 300,000-square-foot Research Center dedicated to basic, translational, and clinical research. The Institute provides the infrastructure and resources to make discoveries in the field of pediatric medicine.
Institute for the Study of Host-Pathogen Systems (ISHPS)
The ISHPS aims to build new relationships across departments and colleges focused on pathogen research critical to the development of new treatments and diagnostic tools.

UTHSC Neuroscience Institute
The mission of the Neuroscience Institute is to develop and support multidisciplinary research and training in neuroscience. They feature basic science and clinical members spanning 10 departments, and foster neuroscience research through support of neuroscience track graduate students and postdocs, the Neuroscience Imaging Center and Behavioral Core, a robust seminar series, and start-up packages for new faculty.
