Resident Research
The Children’s Foundation Research Institute (CFRI) provides comprehensive basic and clinical research infrastructure to support all research activities at Le Bonheur, including clinical trial support, provision of lab space, safety assistance, grant submission, budgeting services, scientific editing and statistical assistance. The CFRI operates in a 300,000-square-foot Research Center dedicated to basic, translational and clinical research. The centralized support of the CFRI is available to all of Le Bonheur’s Pediatric Residents, with the goal of accelerating their scientific discovery and innovation.
Recent research from Le Bonheur includes major breakthroughs in many areas, including the treatment of respiratory syncytial virus in infants; sepsis; kidney tumors in patients with Tuberous Sclerosis; life-threatening cardiomyopathies; liver and GI disease, including intestinal failure; pediatric neurological disorders, including complex seizures, brain tumors, headache and stroke.
Residents are welcome and encouraged to be involved in research with any of the various projects underway or to generate original research ideas. Research can be completed at Le Bonheur or with St. Jude. All residents are required to participate in at least one scholarly activity prior to graduating. Many of our residents have presented their research at various conferences nationally and internationally!
