Education and Training

Paramount to the Department of Surgery at the University of Tennessee Health Science Center are the education and training of medical students, residents, and fellows. 

The General Surgery Residency Program provides rotations in different medical institutions in the Memphis area, including Regional One Health and Le Bonheur Children's Hospital. The Department of Surgery also offers numerous Fellowships as well as a Medical Student Surgery Clerkship — all to train medical students and residents to become medical experts in their specialties. Students and residents will get hands-on training in patient care, learn how to manage high-stress situations, and learn interpersonal communication.
