Application Process
The Pediatric Surgical Critical Care Fellowship, an ACGME accredited fellowship, at the University of Tennessee Health Science Center is a one-year fellowship that takes place at Le Bonheur Children's Hospital.
The goal of the Pediatric Surgical Critical Care Fellowship is to provide advanced proficiency in the care and management of critically ill pediatric surgical patients ranging in age from extreme prematurity to adolescence. The fellow should develop the technical skills necessary to practice pediatric surgical critical care, including, but not limited to: endotracheal intubation, establishment of central venous access, arterial access, ECMO cannulation and tube thoracostomy. The fellow should demonstrate proficiency in these procedures across the age spectrum encompassed by the program.
All information is to be submitted via email to the Division of Pediatric Surgery to the program coordinator and will be forwarded to the surgical critical care program coordinator.
Our program accepts one resident per year.
Selection Criteria
The successful applicant must be scheduled to complete their general surgery training in a program accredited by the ACGME or the Royal College of Physicians and Surgeons of Canada, and be admissible to examination by the American Board of Surgery (or its equivalent), or be certified by that board. Our goal is to provide an outstanding educational opportunity to highly motivated individuals who have a demonstrated track record of academic and clinical excellence. Admission is without bias based on race, gender, age, or religion.

Interviews are by invitation. Selected applicants will be provided with hotel information and potential interview dates.
