Inclusive Teaching and Learning Track
The Inclusive Teaching and Learning track builds a community of instructors committed to creating inclusive learning environments and using inclusive teaching strategies. This 9-month track offers an encouraging space for brainstorming new ideas, designing teaching activities, and developing teaching philosophies as inclusive educators. All participants will receive a copy of the recently-released book What Inclusive Instructors Do and work one-on-one with TLC Consultants to redesign their teaching. Further, faculty who complete the track will be invited to present their redesigned plans in a virtual forum open to the UTHSC community. This track is available through a grant from the Office of Inclusion, Equity, and Diversity.
The program will contain several components:
- A series of monthly face-to-face workshops on issues related to inclusivity, inclusive teaching, and inclusive learning. Workshops will be led by UTHSC faculty and outside speakers.
- A small stipend available to all participants to order inclusive learning resources relevant to their own teaching.
- Access to print and online resources as well as a copy of What Inclusive Instructors Do.
- An online forum where members of the cohort can continue to meet and discuss thoughts and concerns about inclusive teaching and learning.
- A group-sponsored author visit.
- The opportunity to present in a virtual faculty forum.
- Support for publication of the inclusive learning redesign for interested faculty participants.
