Who We Are and How We Accomplish Our Mission: A Note From the Chief
The Division of Hematology/Oncology provide expertise in the diagnosis and treatment
of a broad spectrum of blood disorders and malignant diseases. The Hemology/Oncology
division is a team of doctors, researchers and staff who participate in specialized
patient care and research programs in the areas of hematologic malignancies, thrombosis,
bleeding disorders, sickle cell anemia, bone marrow transplantation, and solid tumors.
Interdisciplinary oncology clinics and conferences are held weekly in the areas of
breast cancer, thoracic, gastrointestinal, genitourinary, sarcoma, neuro-oncology,
melanoma, and head and neck malignancies. Centers which are central to the research
and translational missions of the Division include the Center for Cancer Research,
and the Center for Sickle Cell Disease.
We recognize that the cure of patients with cancer often requires careful coordination
with other specialists, including surgeons and radiation oncologists. Team cancer
care is at the heart of our efforts, accessible to all communities in Memphis and
surrounding areas.
