Electronic Research Administration (eRA)
Provides electronic systems support within the Office of Research, including: ACAP (Institutional Animal Care and Use Committee), ACIM (Laboratory Animal Care Unit), fCOI (Financial conflict of interest disclosures), iMedRIS IRB (Institutional Review Board), iMedRIS IBC (Institutional Biosafety Committee), and Research Registration (Central repository for completion of all types of research-oriented training). Export Control
Oversight, assistance, and training to help researchers meet federal regulatory requirements governing how certain information, technologies, and commodities can be transmitted overseas to anyone — including U.S. citizens — or to foreign nationals on U.S. soil.
Institutional Animal Care & Use Committee (IACUC)
Oversight and evaluation of the UTHSC animal care and use program.
Institutional Biosafety Committee (IBC)
Reviews and ensure best practices in research activities using recombinant DNA (rDNA) and other biohazardous materials.
Institutional Research Cores
Share resources and laboratory cores providing state-of-the-art equipment and expert consultation services.
Institutional Review Board (IRB)
Protecting the rights and welfare of human participants involved in research.
Radiation Safety Committee
The general policy forming body for activities involving radioactive materials and/or other sources of ionizing and non-ionizing radiations.
Research Development
Helping investigators identify external funding, develop grant applications and scientific manuscripts, provide internal funding and interim funding, and establish and enhance collaborations.
Research Integrity
Responding to allegations of research misconduct.
Research Safety Affairs
Assists the campus with safety information and environmental issues.
Scientific Writing
Supporting UTHSC research faculty in Memphis, Nashville, Chattanooga, and Knoxville write successful research grants and scientific manuscripts.
Sponsored Programs
Reviews, negotiates, and approves all proposals for grants and research agreement; reviews and provides guidance on sponsor and university policy and procedures related to sponsored project proposals; provides information and training on grant and research contract processes; facilitates non-financial closeouts and invention reporting; and provides and/or obtains institutional signatures on grants and research agreements.
