Dual Degree and Optional Certificate Opportunities
The University of Tennessee Health Science Center College of Pharmacy provides pathways for student pharmacists to obtain a second degree while earning the doctor of pharmacy degree including a dual PharmD/PhD option. Opportunities are available for students to dual enroll at the University of Memphis to earn a Masters in Business Administration (MBA), Masters in Public Health (MPH), or Masters in Instruction and Curriculum Leadership (MS-ICL).
Students interested in the evolving field of informatics can earn a Certificate or Masters in Health Informatics and Information Management from the College of Health Professions. The College of Pharmacy also offers select courses that lead to a Nuclear Pharmacy certificate or a Rural Health certificate.
PharmD/PhD Dual Degree
The Graduate Program in Pharmaceutical Sciences program offers Doctor of Philosophy (PhD) degrees in medicinal chemistry, bioanalysis, pharmaceutics, and pharmacometrics, granted through the College of Graduate Health Sciences.
The objective of the PharmD/PhD dual degree program at the University of Tennessee College of Pharmacy is to train highly qualified pharmaceutical scientists for academic, industrial, and governmental positions and increase the number of highly trained clinician-researchers that can operate at the interface between basic research and clinical settings to facilitate faster translational innovations into the patient.
